DeQuervains Wrist Tenosynovitis

De Quervain Tenosynovitis (pronounced dih-kwer-VAIN ten-oh-sine-oh-VIE-tis) involves pain in the tendons on the thumb side of your wrist. If you have De Quervain Tenosynovitis, you might feel pain when you grab something, pinch your fingers, twist or bend your wrist, or even squeeze your hand to make a fist. You may have swelling or pain at the base of your thumb or experience a “stop-and-go” feeling when moving your thumb like it’s getting stuck.

Causes of Quervain Tenosynovitis are chronic overuse, inflammatory arthritis, and injuring your wrist or tendon, directly causing scar tissue or retaining extra fluid surrounding your tendons during hormonal changes, such as pregnancy.
