Spinal Infusion Pump

Spinal Infusion Pump

A spinal infusion pump is a device that delivers concentrated amounts of medication into the spinal fluid space through the use of a small catheter. The delivery of medication is continuous, eliminating pain from breaking through. This allows patients whose quality of life is severely impacted to decrease the pain they feel substantially. These pumps are generally offered to patients who have not responded to pain reduction treatment and who have chronic and severe pain. Patients must meet certain screening criteria before a spinal infusion pump is implanted.
