Sciatica

Sciatica is mild-to-severe pain that can present itself in the lower back or buttocks or as weakness in various parts of the leg and foot and usually occurs on one side of the body. Sometimes, you’ll feel numbness and tingling; occasionally, pain may radiate above the knee, and you might have difficulty moving or controlling the leg. Sciatica is caused by compression of the spinal nerve roots of the sciatic nerves. Minimally invasive treatments can help.

Causes of sciatica may include:

  • Herniated disc
  • Protruding disc
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Pregnancy
  • Tumors pressing on the sciatic nerve
  • Trauma to the spine
