Extensor Tendon Laceration

You’ll find extensor tendons on the back of your hand and fingers. These tendons play a role in straightening your fingers. If these tendons get cut or injured, you might feel pain and weakness and lose the ability to extend the affected fingers fully. There are two types of injuries: partial and complete lacerations.

For partial lacerations, where the tendon is not completely cut, you have non-surgical options like using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), applying ice, and wearing splints. But if the tendon is completely cut, surgical treatment is necessary to fix it and restore the movement of your fingers.
